Visa
To visit Senegal we have to get it.Actually it's so easy.At first you can go to homepage. And all you can do is just fill in the blanks.
That page has limit. You have to finish within 10 minutes. It' better to prepare pass port,
the address of hotel to do that smoothly. After you finish it, you can see confirmation page.
It's better to print out it and take it to Senegal. In our case,we just took a picture of it.
Imigration guy complained it in Senegal, but we passed through.
Vaccine against yellow fever
Yellow fever is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes. You can get yellow card after you get the injection. It's certificate that we got vaccine of it.
The vaccine will effect 10 days later after we get the injection and it'll work in 10 years.
It's better to get it in advance. We got it 7days ago before we arrived at Senegal. So we had to get scared
against mosquitoes for 3 days in Senegal. It was funny though. We always put a lot of spray against mosquitoes
on our bady.We got it in N.Y.I'll put price.
Hospital name
Medical center in Flatbush:$150
JFK:$180
Travel Clinic:$185
Passport health:$215
TMS:$245
We went to Medical center in Flatbush. We asked to office lady if the injection was painful in the counter.
She said"Not at all. It'll finish while you're saying Aaaaa." As she said,it finished quickly.
We really care about needle because we thought they used same needle many times.
But the doctor changes it all the time.According to him, 1 needle is ¢5.The doctor was so nice.
I really felt I was very special guy after I got injection because I was protected by the vaccine.I really
feel happy when I felt I was minority person.I'm such a happy boy.
According to some articles, sometimes we have to show yellow card in immigration in Senegal. In our case,
we didn't need it.
Medicine against malaria
You can get the prescription in hospital. We got it in Medical Center in Flat bush.It was $30.According to the doctor,a $5 is the avelage price of one tablet. It's depend on pharmacy.
We have to start to take it 2 days ago before we get the place where has Malaria.
The medicine has 2 types. 1 day effect or 1 week one.
In our case,we just got it for 2 days tablets. And we bought 1 week one in Senegal. We didn't need prescription in Senegal.
In Senegal. It's 4300F/$9 for 1 month.As you notice,it's so cheap.
Book hotel
I recommend to use ” Booking.com”You can find good hotel here. It's better if that hotel is there exactly by e-mail.Actually there's no exact address in Sengal. Definitely a taxi driver will lose the way. You can ask a taxi driver to call the hotel. Please take it note.
Money
You can exchange money in Senegal. I think it's difficult to exchange money in your country. It's so rare. It was unable to do it in N.Y.At first,I recommend to exchange money only $10 for transportation fee at the Air port. Because, the rate is so bad. You can find exchange counter in anywhere. It's funny that you can negotiate the rate there.
This is exchange counter I used
①Air port $1/300F
②Breau exchange $1/480F
③Breaude change $1/500F
People doesn't like big bills in Senegal, so it's better to get small bills as well as possible when you exchange money.
Senegal bills are 10000F, 5000F, 2000F, 1000F, 500F. You can use the bills smaller than 2000F in everywhere.
This is just suggestion it's better to leave at least 3000F for spending time in the airport, before you leave in Senegal. Water is 2000F.
Spray against mosquitoes
There is possibility to get Maralia or yellow fever. It's necessary to bring it.Dirty clothes and shoes
I recommend not to wear good cloth and shoes. Senegal is developing country.
Umbrella
If you go there in rainy season, it's better to take it.Toilet paper
Basically there is no toilet paper in toilet. They use left hand instead of that. You can find a bottle of water in toilet. You can wash your left hand by it after you wipe something!
My girl was mad because of that. I recommend to use left hand to do that. It's one of the way to enjoy life!
Sanitizer for hands
Usually you don't need it. But if you want to join to eat meal with Senegalese, there's opportunity to eat it by your hand. It's my just suggestion.
